IEHIE Technology Objectives
- Provide ‘connector’ technology to allow secure patient information sharing among healthcare providers at the point of care
- Prioritize information sharing to ensure value creation for:
- Clinical care transitions
- Meaningful Use Incentive Payments
- Value based data sharing for efficiency and cost reduction
- Support new models of care such as Accountable Care Organizations (ACO)

Phase I January 2012 – April 2012 – SYSTEM LIVE!
Phase II April 2012 – April 2013 - COMPLETE!
Phase III January 2013 – August 2013 – EMR Lite is Ready!
Phase I Components (By April 2012)
- Secure data exchange with participating IEHIE members
- Real-Time alerting of patient updates
- Subscribe to the data you want, for the patients you want
- Control parameters to alert only exceptions etc
- Reporting to portal inbox, e-mail, iPhone or EMR system
- Access to data SOURCES AVAILABLE IN COMMUNITY WITH ONE CONNECTION – based on clinician’s permissions
- Clinician type, Patient relationship, Opt-In/Opt-Out
- Clinical data, based on participating sources
- Patient Records & Medical Histories, Discharge summaries
- Laboratory and Radiology Results, ECG/EKG Data, Medication Records
- Secure and private access for Patients to their data through the Patient Portal
- View particular clinical data
- Enter data (e.g. blood sugar, blood pressure, lifestyle etc)
Phase II Components (By April 2013)
- Ability to place Diagnostic Laboratory Orders
- Ability to place Radiology Orders
- Case / Disease Management for one implemented pathway
- Individualized care plans based on “best-practice” guidelines
Phase III Components (By August 2013)
- Online Electronic Prescribing
- Ordering & Renewals
- Formulary Checking
- Streamlined workflow
- Standalone, or integration with existing EMR systems
- EMR Lite Functions:
- Patient Registration, including demographics & encounter information
